"Cover Band" is a school project that challenged us to select a famous studio and design a double-sided poster in their style. For this project, I chose to explore the work of Wang Zhihong, a renowned graphic and book designer from Hong Kong, who is known for his dedication to integrating multilingual typography into his design projects, encompassing both cultural and commercial sectors.
Inspired by Wang Zhihong's philosophy, I delved into the concept of balanced compositions between different languages. The back side of the poster, in particular, showcases a small booklet that presents both English and Chinese texts. I experimented with different reading orders, creating a visually captivating experience where the two languages coexist on the same page.
And also embodies Wang Zhihong's approach by seamlessly integrating English and Chinese typography while maintaining an overall sense of balance and harmony. The combination of these languages not only highlights their cultural significance but also show the beauty and complexity of multilingual design.
